    Customs and Forwarding agents

I have just purchased a machinery part in Taiwan and am going thru the process of getting it to here and feel I am getting screwed big time. Can anyone recomend a custom and forwarding agent The part cost 1500 US and the cost to get it here excluding duty and insurance $1933

    Thanks. Noel

Seems they're trying it on. Google Customs and Forwarding Agents and get further quotes. Prices can fluctuate wildly, particularly if it is believed that repeat business in unlikely.

Another reason might be the limited freight carrying options with covid perhaps having an adverse impact on carrier companies and frequency of trips.

it has had a major impact, less vessel sailings means less space available and prices go up.

Noel, the ex factory charge is a killer but all else looks on par for the current climate.

The personal effects quote isn't relevant as they aren't your personal belongings.

The factory quoted FOB. $200 US or CIF $ 280 US but due to the destination of North Queensland suggested a forwarding agent So when I saw the FOB charge of $463 US I started thinking I whas being shafted

yeah its a bit rich for a small item being that Taiwan isnt a large island. Destination has no bearing on origin charges so not sure why they quoted so high. Being LCL you will need a forwarder/broker.

How about using PoB as entry point? I could assist with that.
