Covid Exercise - Running Out of Options

    Hi All,

Anyone else struggling to get their exercise fix?

I used to ride 40km/day to work and back. Started working from home so went to the local pool for a couple of hours a few times a week then pools closed (and Melbourne got really cold!).

Thought I could start jogging again with the dog a few times a week. Silly idea. Knees threatened to blow up so I started (and still do) go for a brisk walk for a couple of hours. Found some amazing podcasts though.

It's still a bit short in the daylight department for a decent ride so I had a look for a second hand rowing machine - doughnuts!!

I think I'll keep looking for a rower (anyone on the forum have one they dont want?) and keep up the walks until daylight savings starts again on October 4th.

Indoor rowers are becoming a bit like hen's teeth!
There's lots of rowers around who aren't allowed on the water, so rowing machines are getting used like never before!!

I'm setting up the old bike trainer, hate the bloody things but I'm stacking on weight with no exercise. Used to ride to work, about 30 k return but it is hard to distance on the paths near me and working from home when I can.

Bikes are the go if you can get the space. Your walking is cool too.
I find the cool weather helps me. My favorite is the Yarra river and Eastlink trails. Not to busy but note weekends has a lot of kids needing a bit of extra space and patients. There are also some butt kicking bike lights especially the off road ones making night, morning or twilight riding a option which is much quieter as well. I am finding I can mask up on my bike adding a little safety if it is a little busy as well. I have something like this on the font, mine cost me a lot more

Love a good pod cast when riding

While I知 not a regular exerciser at the moment I have found that I知 outside in the garden more - and doing all sorts of renovations out there so most afternoons come back inside having worked up a sweat - not the same as what a fit person would need but it is certainly helping me and my mental health as well. If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Although I知 not in Melbourne, I知 still getting training in. At the moment its a combination of outdoor running in the parks and the velodrome, tready running and pretty much all of my bike work is on the trainer with Perfpro sets done by my coach and just a touch of Zwift - have you considered getting a smart trainer for the bike to hook up to your computer? Pool, I haven稚 swum for a while now, I値l probably drown next time I get in! It痴 pretty hard these days with just about all of the events being cancelled. That said, the local runners club is back up and running again, but Parkrun is not. Right now is such a great time to keep into the core exercises too!
    Cheers

I'd have a at go this one too. Sounds like a good workout. No guilt cracking a beverage afterward either.
