What name of this spider?

Geez what a mob of pussies.
My family once camped out in the empty quarter of Saudi Arabia. We slept in the car as we wanted to get on the road early. to give room we stacked our stuff outside.

In the morning setting off, my son opened his activities bag to be confronted by a camel spider. he of course screamed blue murder.

These are not really spiders apparently, but they anesthetize your skin then eat a hole in it or lay eggs. Lots of Ethiopians have craters in the skin of their face from this. There are reports of sores forming and then baby spiders exiting the sore. great stuff.

Anyway the spider scurried up into the back of the driver's seat in the RRC. I sprayed copious amounts of insecticide in there but we never found it.

Huntsman are cool kids compared to those!

I grabbed a pair of shorts from the bathroom floor once, pulled them on and put my hand in a pocket only to feel something really velvety and soft.
Yep, a Huntsman!
I carefully deposited the contents outside. [emoji23]

Another time I picked up a small soft bag not seeing the huntsman on top.
This one did take umbrage to the sudden unexpected trip and bit me on the heel of the hand.
It too, was deposited outside unharmed.

Back in the bush we usually had at least one running around the house and they were universally christened 'Spider'!
Very creative by my then partner. [emoji23]
We always left them be as they kept the unwelcome visitor population down.

Hmm, that might've included humans? [emoji848]

About 20 years ago touring & camping round Tasmania. Packed up the Defender went to drive away and there was this huge Huntsman on the window beside me ! Realised I was looking at the underneath so it was outside, phew, disappeared at about 30kph.

We have a large number of trees behind our house so regularly find Huntsman both inside & outside the house.

Wife headed off on the school run one morning and a big one ran across the dashboard. Screeched to a halt by some roadworks and bailed up one of the guys to remove the spider. He made some comment about how tough he was but did a double take when he saw it !

My father-in-law always shook his boots when they had been left outside. I put my gardening boots on one morning and there was something inside stopping me getting my toes to the end....you guessed it.

I catch them by hand if they are small and have a plastic bag held open by a wire frame on an extendable pole to get them if they are high up in the house. The kids used to have a lot on their flyscreens because they had lights on all night long.

You may have read the necrosis bit in the press years ago about a nurse in Hobart.
That was self inflicted attention seeking.

A white tail spider bite is about as poisonous as a cat or dog bite.

But it's really creepy when they carry dozens of little ones on their back, and you hit them and all the little ones scatter in all directions.

Sort of like a horror movie.
