    Anti 4x4 rage

This is a current lead post in a thread on a horsey forum. Anyone here experienced anything like this ?

Ok, this is not a grip at 4wd drivers quite the opposite as I drive one, I am sick to death of being abused because I own and drive one.
I have had many run inns with people of late abusing 4DW drivers and I am sick of it, I can understand road rage to some degree at times.
I had to fill my car up today, and as the petrol station I go to only has one diesel pump, and there was a queue of 4 cars in front of me, I decided to back my car up to the pump on the other side, so instead of all the cars facing one way I was opposite, so this ##### of a guy, comes up to me and starts swearing at me for going against the flow and that he is sick of F**King women driving f**cking 4wd, and that they should be banned,, cause they are in his word useless, and that because I am a woman I should drive a littler car, as I wouldn’t be able to judge and drive it like I should. I so wanted to smack this guy in the mouth
Than whilst at school, I was told by another Mother, that she knows of a petition that she wants to sign, to ban all 4wd, as they are dangerous, as you cant see out of them. I tried to explain to her that I know my car backward, and that I can and could get into and through all the spots she could in her sedan, than she changes to but they are blind and you cant see where you are reversing, so I tell her that my car is easier to see out of than my oh rodeo, which she called me a liar for. I also tried to explain that I have a big float and tow with it and that I need are car that can legally and safely pull the load, and she tries to tell me that I need to update my laws as there is no longer load capacities for towing, also women according to her aren’t allowed to tow, by this stage I was becoming rather irate, how can people who have no idea what they are talking about rabbit so much crap?

this girl has the right idea
I drive a landcruiser in Sydney (due to having to tow a horse float, two big dogs and needing to get around agistment place - see I am so used to defending my car decision I am doing it again!). I was at the servo the other day and everyone was going one way, but there was a gap the other way, so I took it. A lady pulled up front onto me and got out and started abusing me for 'facing the wrong way - how will I ever get out'. My answer to her (loud enough for all to hear) "If you don't know how to reverse maybe you shouldn't be driving luv". She shut up after that and I kept on filling up. I don't remember there being a law that all cars at the servo must face east. Some people need to get a life. If anyone gives you grief driving your big beast, just smile and wave and think of how jelous they must be that you have a life that needs such a big car - a life full of adventure, horses, dirt, fun

Had a bloke in a little buzz box get the hoohahs when he couldn't overtake me up a hill. I was doing the speed limit 90km/h so I've no idea why he needed to especially with a speed camera around the corner. He decided to tailgate me for a few km's . When we eventually go to a set of lights he came up beside me and started his nagging about me hogging the road in my 4wd. I saw my lights had a green his still red lowered the window and said "whats the matter princess, can't you afford one" and drove off he wasn't game to follow due to the police car opposite him.

I've towed horse floats around for around 3 years now. Before my disco I drove a ZH fairlane on a 302 on duel fuel, I have also towed many floats with a variety of 4wd's. A 4wd in my opinion is the safest way to tow such a heavy load. People don't understand that a horsefloat is not a box trailer or a caravan. There is at least one s***scared animal weighing an average of 500+ kilo's shifting it's weight on every bump, turn and brake application. I have towed them in utes, sedans and stationwagons before. Naturally the safest way would be a truck with airbags on the back (who can afford them) plus rego every 6 months. An average setup including car, decent float, horse, tack and so on can cost up to $100000 to get all at once. A 4wd 's wieght towing ability and soft suspension makes a safer and smoother trip for driver horse and passengers. Most of these vehicles admitedly will never see a bush track but in my opinion are still serving a duel purpose.
Besides try and get a Commode or Falcon in a diesel.

Well I just went away and got mine good and dirty this week-end. I plan to leave the grime on it for two reasons -
    1. So anybody having un-charitable thoughts about me driving a Defender in the city can see tangible evidence that I have a life that requires it.
    and
    2. We have level 3 water restrictions coming in this week and the next time I am allowed to wash it will probably be 2009!

WHATEVER the topic be it guns. 4WD's, nuclear energy, dams, etc etc etc there will ALWAYS be fools that are SURE they know the answers and can tell the rest of the country whtat to do without looking at anything as radical as FACTS and EVIDENCE.

I drive a Defender so can't hear them. I can see the jestures though. With towing I have towed a Pajero on a car trailer with a mazda 929. Cops on the freeway were to scared to pull me over.

Paid for with buggered rear suspention.

We live half way down (or up ?) a big hill and you have to go to the bottom to get off the main road to turn back up to our place. There is a run off for this, but you have to slow to 70 before getting in to it
Of course everyone is hitting the ton by the bottom of the hill and thats where I love the Landie, no one dares tailgate. Its a different story in the crummydore !!
We get our fair share of light flashes etc.
One day ( when she had the Rangie) my wife said some bugger in a Landcruiser gave her a royal wave. I said he could'nt have read your bumper sticker properly.
It said KING OFF THE ROAD, but it was good of him to acknowledge it on the road too.
