You're in gods country up there, seems a waste doing the gaming thing. apart from stupid suggestions I have no answers.
Nothing sensible makes sense when dealing with Autistic kids, I've got mates going through similar stuff.

I wouldn't stress about the weight and all that. Keep him happy (within reason)
Mental health is vastly more important than physical health under those circumstances, IMO.

Trying to fight and change such stuff will be a major drama for the whole family. Not worth the stress.
It's not just him you have to worry about. Sure, change stuff up bit, but just keep the whole show running smooth.

    Good luck and best wishes

Very much agree with this. My exercise physiologist recommended this type of diet to me. Not only am I insulin dependent with a high resistance to insulin (I was on over 145 units of insulin daily and still not having good control). I also have an illness called Disaccharidase Deficency (https://intermountainhealthcare.org/...ncid=521363761) which means that my gut lacks enzymes to break down/absorb many foods, so my diet is extremely limited. Even with this I did manage to get my sugars in good control, The secret is getting you weight down. This has a huge effect. I am now having problems again due to contracting acute labyrinthitis - (Labyrinthitis | Cedars-Sinai.). This makes it hard to exercise, but that's another story. I guess I'm just getting old and decrepit .
