spoke too soon, auto door when it gets to ground open and closes repeatedly and will not auto lock, so tech coming tomoz. I will insist I ride the lift so my total weight is in the carriage and it is adjusted correctly.

Well we had to call them yesterday as the door wouldn't shut. To cut a long story short the company came out and fixed it. So Mario has gone out to his friend down the road, and he call me and they where having lunch in Upwey, which is about 1 mile away. So they are enjoying the good sunny day.
Mate ditched his Harley for a mobility scooter , but at least I'm wearing an official Land rover hat

MY OT is visting tomorrow. l have an issue with the keys on the lift. you have to insert key into the lift call ( for security against unauthorised use) then remove key and reinsert it once you are in carriage to use the up and down buttons. this key is small and to insert key a protected flap needs lifting.

It took me a good 3 minutes to get the key in. l don't have the fine motor function in my fingers, and the issue was having to press the call button and hold it in for then lift call, then reverse out of the way for the auto swing door to have opening room. this takes away my independence and having some one to press it for me. The lift tech said they can have another call button mounted on a wall outside or inside my doorway. The OT just needs to put a request in.

l was thinking about the key issue , either adding a large handle to key, similar to car key fob so l could grip it with my whole hand, but l still need the ability to insert it into the key hole with trembling hands
it's a learning process to get stuff personalised for your needs.

    Hello Roverlord,

Could you set up an electronic key fob like a remote control locks for a car? The standard operation for key would have a couple of contacts touching when the key is turned the right way.

It used to be surprising for me when I first became interested in disability access, how specialist disability manufacturers would make an access product and then have tiny latches or very strong springs/latches. These were inaccessible to operate for anyone with even the slightest trace of arthritis. It was like 95 percent great design and 5 percent dumb design, or economising. Unfortunately the dumb part was the aspect that controlled everything. I did write how I used to be surprised.

    Kind regards
    Lionel

    Hi Mario
Any half assed tech can change that to a RFID tag for you. Ask the OT to arrange that ASAP. It a little like the proximity key in any new car. Works in our pocket

Demand politely OT arranges that for you I mean

Could be as simple as NFC in a smartphone.

Mario, I probably can't help with the bureaucracy, but I can help physically. You know where I am.

    update

''Update. The OT came a couple of weeks ago to see if there were any issues that needed addressing? The lift key was a big one. I had 1st lift the spring loaded lock cover and hold it up whilst trying insert the very small key with my trembling fingers on the other hand.

A knock front door ( we had no prior knowledge they were coming. They had come to remove all the key switches and install another call panel inside on the wall next to the front door under the existing light switch.

They were about to drill a hole through my passage hall tiles and fit conduit onto the plaster so the could run their wires. A mate was fitting a side gate for me when l heard one say to the other , " let's ask the builder" referring to my mate. He told them if he was to remove a 25cm piece of skirting the could get access to drill a hole in the bottom wall plate and feed the cables inside the wall cavity, which they did.
Now l just call call the lift ftom the front door and drive straight in and hold the up or down button. It's so much easier for me.
