Great, I hope he keeps on keeping on. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he will have a fear of water all his life now? Could happen.

    EDIT.
Mum. "Did you wash behind your ears & around your mouth son?"

Teenage Kid. "**** that for a game of soldiers Mum, I don't do ears & mouths".

I must admit to falling asleep early one morning leaving Broome and heading towards Derby. I was driving a Series3 with an air compressor on the back and giving a lift to a girl from the Mangrove pub who had been working there but leaving for some reason long forgotten.
    This was about 1980.
I woke up as we crossed a ditch on the R/H side of the road just in front of probably the only other vehicle on the road heading towards us. Frightened the **** out of me and the girl had no idea what had happened as she'd been asleep as well.
These days there'd be lots of vehicles on that stretch of road but luckily back then it was virtually deserted.
It can happen to anyone and the consequences in this case are awful.
I was lucky and so was my passenger and the other driver.
    AlanH.
