Also I dont think that it was not a good ploy on the marketing team to call the new vehicle 'Defender' - I think they should have realised the issues this would cause out in the market and finally but the Defender name to bed and come up with something new.

Same with the last Commodore - GM should have dropped the Commodore name with the last of the VFs and with the Insignia (Z version, either stayed with that or a new name. As we know the backlash was horrendous - and and yet the ZB was actually a reasonable car.

Yes, the should have called it "What We Should Have Made The Discovery Like!"

they would not be making a bad move by dumping the current discovery and renaming the defender.....discovery.

I actually like John and I am starting to suspect ASPW is a media genius, as he has us all talking about and watching his channel!

On the New Defender I am not too concerned about TFL having to get a replacement from the dealer and even the winch install debacle seems to be a one off, what does worry me is Powerful UK's software update which took several attempts, this could be a constant annoyance to owners. I am on the New defender Facebook page, where software updates are constant, something doesn't work correctly, software update fixes it. It never seems to bother any of the owners, the car does the update, and they're on their merry way. Every owner seems to absolutely love the vehicle.

I would have thought that as part of the pre-delivery checks, dealers would be updating all software to the latest versions.

It’s OTA so it doesn’t matter.

Pre-production testing showed it all working, mass production units have a few glitches that are actively being resolved.

Heck, there’s D3 and D4s running old software without a glitch.

Like a PC, some just work fine.
