Thanks Ian, but I'll wait for someone who knows more in the Morn. It doesn't Google so makes my curiosity even more mysterious. Maybe I am taking the description too literally but I won't sleep tonight not knowing.:Rolling:
.
'Central Station' was the central forestry office for the place in the 40s and 50s. May have started earlier but, I'm a bit rusty on the history.
The brothers wife sort of remembers some of her mum's tales but nothing 100% accurately.
I based my post on QR's history, but there could possibly have been a private tramway. Had that been the case, I'm reasonably confident that those stories and facts would not have disolved into forgetfulness.
Ok Central station, Fraser .

From Bob's second link. Fraser Island logging, SLQ Glenda. I stand corrected.
The 20's and 30's was a bit before my time, just a year or two.[bigwhistle]
I vaguely remember it being a main station for the Forestry guys.
I'm not much help either Paul, my memory's never been good. [bigsad]
Amazingly, this thread has found a bit of memory I thought had disappeared.[bighmmm]
I was under the house today, and noticed the old two piece green 8' Jarvis Walker fishing rods we used on Fraser as kids. They are a bit worse for wear, but still have the mark in the cork handle, which was 13" from the end, any fish caught that was shorter than that was thrown back.If we didnt throw them back we got a good rev, or clip behind the ear.[bighmmm].
There is even the 4" Alvey there as well.
The only fridge we had was a kerosine one in the Forestry hut.
Thanks Bob I knew the answer would be out there somewhere & it was.:TakeABow::TakeABow::TakeABow:
So it was a station as in a cop shop, but for Office staff & not necessarily Railway connected?

Job Done Thanks all who responded to my inane query.
Must have been a reasonable village of 30 Homes + 1 school but Rain forest grows back quickly so would account for there being nothing of the old joint being visible. It is probable remnants are there but now concealed by forest.
