Be flexible, if the weather forcast is for blue skies when you disembark, head west along the NW coast and down the west coast. With side trips to Western Tiers and Cradle Mt, local towns etc before going South on The Western Explorer Rd (gravel, but not rediculous).
A couple of overnight spots before you get to the Pieman River.
Camp at the Pieman River barge after a trip up the river on the Arcadia if you want. I reckon it is better value than the Gordon River Cruise.
Trial Harbour has an ocean side camp spot, just north of the village, do it, camp on the edge of the world.
There are heaps of possible routes and places to see.
The East coast will have caravans and crowds during summer, the weather is usually more predictable and there are some great views along the coast.
Cheers
As a fellow Tasmanian I will agree with 100% of this. I have been up and down Pieman River from Corinna at least 50 times in 16-18ft dingies and it is far prettier than the Gordon near Strahan (which gets all the tourists and hoo ha).
Have a look at the Pieman Dam as well. Plenty of free camp spots on the roads, old quarries etc.
Zeehan township/museum worth a day exploring and the CP is very good but low cost etc.
Free camp at Granville Harbour on the coast.
Strahan Golf course $10 per night etc etc.
Need an absolute minimum 1 month in Tassy and preferably 2.
