    GRRR stupid victorian permit scheme....

So, I want to do a run to pick up some bits from Melbourne and head back to the safety of Albury in one trip. After attempting to navigate the stupid permit site I can apply for a transit permit for 24 hours that would seem to best suit my needs but the form makes the assumption that I am transiting Victoria, not going in and back out.
If I apply for a permit to travel to Victoria the form assumes that I am going to stay for some time and requires me to get a covid test and isolate which is not useful either. I suppose I'll have to ring them tomorrow and ask, looking forward to that.......

Its a very poorly defined web site with no contextual explanations of the information you require or explanations of what the different permit options mean. to figure other this much I had to put dummy info into the form to get to the next page to figure out what I needed to do.

The sole piece of information that I can find on the FAQ list :
I’m going to travel to Victoria just for a few hours, do I need a travel permit?

Yes. Anyone planning on entering Victoria will need a travel permit.

Happy to listen if anyone else has played this game.......

If you figure it out then you are a genius. Logic deserted Victoria a long time ago. Long before the Wuhan flu, Victoria was a place to leave.

I could say a lot, but I can't, except Good Luck. This place is insane. get in, if you must, and then get out.

I used to be a proud Victorian. Now? ................. Not so much.........

I know, this is NOT what you asked, but Victoria has been unexplainable for nearly 12 months. I hope you manage what you need.

Tote, I played the stupid game for both SA and WA. Got knocked back but told I could reapply, by both. Fortunately, an obliging SA policewoman phoned me, informing me of the very specific answer they wanted. Why on earth they couldn't have asked in a specific manner, has me scratching my head. I'm pleased the policewoman had more brains than the turkey who wrote the application form.
This doesn't help your situation, but I hope you find consolation in the fact that I empathise with you having to deal with moronic public servants.

I am dealing with these robots twice a day minimum. I have mum, now in hospital, 102 yo, and I have bureauhoops to jump through.

We are no longer a society, but a series of "issues" to be dealt with.

I need to go to Ballarat for less than 24 hours but have decided it is easier to just wait and go when it is easier to just go.

    It's not that hard.

We did a quick trip(30mins) into NSW back at Christmas and the permit doodad took about 2mins. Most of that 2mins was the delay in phone reception too.

    Permit site

Just input your details on page 1.
Page 2, just use the green zone option.

Set your dates, make it same, make it a day later .. makes no difference really.

Quite easy to do... even for a 'formophobe' like me!

You will get an email, print the permit, or save it to your mobile device cops want to see either style as you enter.

Heading back into NSW, you won't need to do anything. Check points are only inbound side.
    Arthur.

I didnt do it with Vic but with SA/NT/QLD both ways.

I rang SA , NT and Qld police and all 3 were so helpful and Qld police told me to apply at the border if I didn't know what date I was coming through.

Funny thing , I was in the system and when I approached the Qld border , being manned by NT police , they addressed me by my christian name , knew I was coming.

So, be nice , get in the system and ask for help......thats why they are there.

Permits both went through no worries, they even have better wording that aligns with what I want to do which is not stay any longer than 24 hours. We'll enjoy the adventure on Saturday, covid permitting.
Seems I'm having a streak of crap internet experiences, I had to fill out the new online vendor declarations for the sale of some rams this afternoon, they must have hired the same developers as the Vic government.
