Hi John, I appreciate your kind offer and we spoke a while ago. I didn't want to bother you with my problems as you were going through some **** of your own

I know your willing to lend a hand but I couldn't ask you to take me to the toilet and wipe my bum, or shower me, get me out of be and dress me put me to bed. Heather is doing that now. I have a lot of funding that's been allocated by the NDIS I need to use and it provides for homecare and and personal assistant. I have been hesitant on that even.
I have realised now I need to get a personal assistant in to be my hands and to give me personal care. This is in the process of being organised through the NDIS.

I cant really go on an outing as I need to go with a disabled taxi. I can't easily get in and out of a car, and I need my chair to get around. The chair will not go into a car so transporting it is an issue. I have an annual taxi allowance so I have to use it wisely.
I limit my forays at the moment to the end of the street and the next block at present where I attend physio.

I cannot get the chair into the house at present until the lift is installed , at present it's kept in the garage which is an effort for me to get to.

There a lot going on in my life at the moment that needs sorting, the house renos need finishing, the house mods need starting, I'm waiting on builders.

John, I just need a bit more time to face the world again. The planned fishing trip this coming week end is going to be my test, to see how I cope.

Fair enough, Mario. I understand all of that. I can't wipe mum's bum either... But if I can run errands, or anything like that....

Oh, don't hesitate to use the NDIS funding mate, you have paid for it. So have we, and I don't think any of us would begrudge you one cent. And think of the relief it would give Heather. Your time together is precious.

No, Mario, I'm not a fisherman. But I'd learn, if it would help. They are good to eat, but I wouldn't know a a whiting from a whale...wait, I might .. I like boats ( dad raced them ), I like talking ****, which seems to be important, and I like you. And I like Heather. And I live 5 minutes away. What's not to like? I'm not available 24/7, but who is? Mum's going into a home, so my twice daily visits for 4 1/2 years won't be such a discipline as they were. I don't have a huge amount to give, but what I do have is yours. You've helped me. Now, maybe I can help you.
You are right, I've had some **** to deal with. I'm still helping people deal with theirs'. It's called life, and we should help when we can, if we can. I'm helping another friend with his chemo/radio regime as much as I can. I don't think I'm doing a good job of it, but I'm doing what I can, even if it's just driving him to the hospital. Yesterday I'd arranged to pick him up after a chemo/radio session. But they needed to assess and change, something that you will understand. Because the cancer is in his throat the radio is particularly nasty for his day to day, and they decided to pass a tube hough his nose into his stomach to save him the discomfort of passing food past the burnt section of his throat. Long story short, I waited five hours for a 50 minute pickup. This doesn't make me a hero or anything, but it does make me a mate. My late father in law told me that we all need mates. After the POW **** on the Death Railway, he should know.
