1 wont give up on this

Shire infrastructure rep came to have a walk with me, and took notes and photographs and made a few phone calls re safety issues. re vegetation some will be cleared within 3 days, some will take times as research involved to see if boundary is council land or private land. The spot where the bus parks might be able to have a barrier installed for safety of pedestrians. got to check with works dept , foot paths do need upgrading to current standards , but with one 600kms of paths and only $1 mill in kitty. pay more rates John Tins take one for the team[bigwhistle]

Response to such safety hazards are all about the attitude of the government body involved - maybe prompted by previous issues.

The sewerage pipes out on the road were replaced a while back so ever 10m along the road vertical shafts were dig down to the pipes. These were back filled when completed. Some of the shafts were dug on the footpath so had to be concreted over when back filled. A week after this work was done the cement truck came and parked out the front waiting to go to provide concrete for holes further down the street.

Unfortunately when they were filling the holes with fill they did not pack it down and over the week or so after relaying the concrete path over the top the fill had settled about 6-9". The cement truck driving over it broke all the concrete footpath leaving a deep hole and the driver just took off. People walk along the path at night and there is poor lighting so was a real safety hazard.

I rang the Govt and the next day the concreter was there fixing it - likewise if you walk on the footpaths you can see where workers have been there grinding down the raised sections of concrete footpath removing trip hazards.

Mario, after reporting the issue, you should not have had to constantly chase this up as once advised your Council should have been concerned about the safety issue and the legal risk if there was an accident.

what amazes me people walk this these paths every day, and duck and dodge over hanging scrbs, tres , stub their toes and yet no one bothers to report it so it can get fixed.
One of the holes on a bitumen section of the path is on a section where there is a drop of about 1-1.5metres , there is no street lighting there, kids go to and from school , mothers push prams, elderly walk along it as well a joggers and dog walkers, and it's been like that for 3 years and no one reports it? leave it Mario they must have said.

To be fair Mario, why didn't you report the issues three years ago, or before you needed a chair? Some things need a change in perspective before they're noticed.
Once notified of a safety issue, the council should be rectifying it as a matter of utmost urgency. Tardiness can be extremely costly if someone is injured, or worse.

Answer, I never Walked along there before, Always drove by, but did check and found the holes has been there for years.

I better lay low for a while, the council rang me to advise me they contacted the bus company and advised them not to park their buses there any more.

Back in the USBus days maybe, but this new mob are pussies... Trouble is, Ventura have so many drivers I wonder if the message will get through.
