    Reads90,
Have a read of technical bulletin 0705.

I'll play it safe & not post it here but if anyone is concerned about LRs policy on modifications, I'll send you a copy by email.

    Good move Farnarkle.
The dealer will usually do anything to get a sale whether it complies with LR policy or not (speaking from personal experience here, I'm sure they're all not like that)

MMM, most bars fitted to Defenders by LR dealers are ARB anyway, wether they are badged that way or not. Some dealers take off the ARB stickers. Most of this will not void your warranty as such. It may however mean that if it is an issue caused by an accessory that the warranty transfers to the accessory manufacturer. Case in point is with bull bars, companies such as ARB, ECB etc will accept warranty claims for things such as false air bag deployment related to a bar fault.Best bet is if you can get all the big gear fitted at the LR dealer at a decent price, it will be their responsability to cover warranty as they sold you the product. I have never had any real drama getting a warranty claim fixed with LRA.

...but things get iffy when ARB asserts that the air-bag did not go off due to a bar fault and LR do. I guess you just play the odds and hope that any fault is clear cut enough not to casue any blamestorming.

When I bought my Fender new I got the following fitted before pick up,
    Bull bar-LR Badged
    Towbar-LR Badged
    Snorkel-LR Badged
    Spotties- LR Badged
    Dual Batts-LR Badged

Dunno how they are going to say any of that effects my warranty.

    Dual batteries !!
I haven't heard of a genuine dual battery kit.

Maybe your dealer has a heap of LR badges lying around that they fit to accessories .

Still no reply as yet. Will forward off a reminder tomorrow AM

The aftermarket stuff I want to put on is ,IMHO, far
better than the options the are dealer supplied - if, in fact they supply them, this opinion is after looking at the LR Aust web site. Dont really feel like waiting till the warranty expires to fit stuff I want -

Still no reply from LR Aust - here's a copy of my latest email - lets see what happens

    Hello Again

I sent this email to you on 20/06/06 :-

    Hello

I'm just about to make up my mind to purchase a new Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE and have a few questions to ask about warranty. I wish to add a few after maket items and, if I list them could you tell me if the warranty is affected in any way and how?

    After Market Items :-
    ARB Bullbar with Driving Lights
Auxiliary Battery with Traxide regulator/charging thingy
Auxiliary Fuel tank ( goes in Spare wheel space)
    Jaymar Swing out wheel carrier
    cb/vhf/uhf radio
The reason for this is that on the forum I look at there is talk that adding after market stuff will void the warranty.

As the above matter directly affects whether I purchase a New D3 or not could you please reply as soon as possible
