I sent this off to LR aust yesterday - I wonder if I'll get a reply?
Hello
I'm just about to make up my mind to purchase a new Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE and have a few questions to ask about warranty. I wish to add a few after maket items and, if I list them could you tell me if the warranty is affected in any way and how?
After Market Items :-
ARB Bullbar with Driving Lights
Auxiliary Battery with Traxide regulator/charging thingy
Auxiliary Fuel tank ( goes in Spare wheel space)
Jaymar Swing out wheel carrier
cb/vhf/uhf radio
The reason for this is that on the forum I look at there is talk that adding after market stuff will void the warranty.

Lucky for you you can buy all that stuff as genuine LR equipment at 4 times the price without effecting your warranty.Originally Posted by Farnarkle

Now what's the question?
You have just highlighted the reason I prefer to purchase vehicles near the end of their warranty. A large part of the depreciation is done and it gives you a few months to ensure there are no bugs before you go nuts with the accessories.
Of course I wouldn't expect any of the accessories you listed to "void" your warranty - they just give the manufacturer more reason to scrutinise any claims you may make. You should only have issues if, for example, you put a long range fuel tank on then have engine trouble related to fuel supply. Any claim that could conceivably have one of your accessories as a contributing cause will leave both Landrover and the accessory manufacturer in a position to deny any liability. I would, however, expect that problems that could be the result of accessories would be addressed by the accessory manufacturer/installer.
Landrover have, however, been very good to me in honouring warranty claims. On some occasions I have taken my vehicle to them for regular servicing with mere queries only to find that they have replaced huge chunks of stuff when I have picked the car up! For example, I asked them about a small bulge on the edge of the dashboard and they amazingly replaced THE WHOLE DASHBOARD. So they can be more than reasonable as long as you don't present them with frivolous claims - and even those can result in excessive rectifications.
At Southside Land Rover we have sent brand new disco 3's off to ARB to have all this stuff fitted . Even before they are regestered. It does not affect the warrenty. You are adding stuff. If you went for the new chip ungrade on the engine. That is where they get sh*tyOriginally Posted by Farnarkle
