Agree in principle, especially after being taken out and hospitalised after a bloke tried to beat the red right turn arrow, but once again, the camera only records the crime, it doesn't prevent it.

On the other hand, I'd be all for a camera that recorded texting while driving.

Bellarine Hwy late afternoon nearly all young women heading west, into the sun, are texting while driving.

Coincidentally, I saw my first portable mobile phone detection unit on the way home this afternoon. Looks a bit like a lighting tower and I realised I'd also seen it out around Bowning on Sunday afternoon.

Why is that people can't leave their phones alone while driving?
I don't even use blue tooth, I find it distracting.
Just ignore the bloody thing or pull over then deal with it or, better still, wait until you get to where your going!
Really worries me when I see people driving towards me at 100 odd KPH & aren't even looking out the windscreen.

I don't find talking to someone 1,000 ks away any more distracting than talking to a passenger sitting next to me. I appreciate, however, that we aren't all the same.

Spent some time working with some actuaries who as you might have guessed loved to talk about numbers and how they are used in society.

On speed limits there were fairly vocal that as the limit itself is based on politics not maths you cannot say exceeding or not exceeding it is safe or not safe

At the time there was a story on the news where a pedestrian had been run over by a car. Police position in the court was that as the driver was under the speed limit they were not at fault. The pedestrian had stepped out from between parked cars into the path of the car.

High resolution camera and clever software. It doesn't have to be terribly accurate, it just flags the footage for review by a human.
It's up so high so it can see down into the vehicle.
