And often proven to not be based on the formula designed to set them.

Well done Trout. You inadvertently answered the whole issue - inattention.

In all collisions speed is a factor, no 2 stationary objects ever collide Road Safety or Revenue?. The deciding factor is if the speed was appropriate for the prevailing conditions - not the arbitrary limit of that section of road.

The point is if a tolerance so low is revenue raising or safety. It’s always revenue.

Cameras do not stop offences, or any outcomes, they just record them.

If a person is incapable of checking the Speedo whilst in charge of a vehicle then that person should not be in charge of driving a vehicle full stop . Jesus wept it is such a bloody lame excuse , i cant take my eyes of the road as it is dangerous and might cause an accident .

Also, most people will abide by a law if they think it's reasonable, but if it's unreasonable they'll totally disregard it.
**** pedestrians!!!! I’m not allowed to drive on their footpaths. Road Safety or Revenue?

We have huge swathes of road out here at BS speed limits. The result of which; fatigue or frustration leading to poor choices.

A great example is the highway north. It gets no better as you cross the border but the speed limit increases significantly… what’s the difference there Road Safety or Revenue?

    All evidence shows it’s safer…

And a huge amount of evidence is in place to show risk vs speed.
Low speed limits haven’t changed much behaviour, but have made Governments quite a bit of cash.

    Road Safety or Revenue?

Here in the U.K. Bristol spent millions on an extensive reworking of roads to reduce the speed limit to 20 mph. Idea was it would reduce accidents, pedestrians deaths, reduce pollution and allow more alternative use of the road space. Ended up with more traffic and longer journey times. When reviewed after a couple of years against all the benefits it was supposed to produce they could not find one that had been achieved. This review by the same people who were so keen to introduce the scheme. Cannot put it back to what it was again as do not have the funds

I was booked a few weeks ago coming out of a country town.

I was in a 60 zone and the 100km sign was perhaps 50m from me and I was slowly accelerating.

I got done at 73 but it was the cop annoyed me.

He was coming from opposite direction on a motorcycle and put his lights on and signalled me to pull over.

He obviously knew the 60-100 zone quite well or how would he have known to put his radar on me.

He was being very provocative and he smelled bad and and looked grubby and wasn't happy to just write the e-ticket without a confrontation , which I purposely avoided , which I'm sure aggravated him.

But he couldn't do any more and he ran out of provocations and left.

If you didn't speed in the first place this unpleasantness wouldn't have happened
If you looked at that 100 sign as you drove past it then you would have seen the 60 sign on the town approach side, a rookie mistake speeding up before reaching the higher speed zone.

Shouldn't be any issue with that because it has been stated from on high that it doesn't happen, and therefore can't be applicable.
    Cheers
Too right. Foreshore Rd in Botany NSW is a prime example. The lights with camera are almost safe. The lights without are run on red at almost every change. On the rail; if you pass a signal at stop (SPAD) they pull your ticket and you're off for re-training.
    Cheers, Billy.
    Keeping it simple is complicated.
