The report DIDN'T say the the Cape was closed, It stated that the TIP of the Cape has been closed off.
Why do people have to twist the facts to suit their own interests like old mate on the Facebook post did.

It hasn't been closed yet! No decision was arrived at the T.O. meeting so, still up in the air, as far as I can tell.

It’s a great place, and easy to get away from the crowds.

Been up there twice, probably go again this year, havent seen many hoons, but yes the rubbish here and there is very annoying.

For those that are going, particularly for the first time, the book “Destination Cape York” is a good up to date read.

Yeah.......maybe. I was sucked in to other reports online. Are well, I’m a little wiser now.

I do have some other views about the situation but I don’t dare air them here........ Cape York Shut.

I ain’t twisting any facts.....just made a comment based on some other online about the tip being closed......whoopee doo if the threads title is cape.

No matter how you word it.....the majority of travellers going to the ‘cape’ generally go tot he extra effort and walk to the tip.....so o can understand some comments.

We’ll still cruise upto the ‘cape’ or ‘tip’ regardless of whether the gate is open or not on our 2 year lap. If the final bit is closed than I don’t walk to the tip, no biggie.

Thanks, I'm wiser now, too. I know that there is a reason for the closure and have no beef with it but, have a look at the roads into a lot of 'Dry Communities' in Australia and tell me that the Green Cans littering the approaches for kilometres is a good thing.
'What's good for the goose' does not apply in some situations.

I'm sure the "Oh, buts" will have a reasonable argument.

I understand the aboriginals being upset about the mess but christ where does it stop. It's been only 2 years since they were granted the land and now Australians are banned. 2019 uluru banned as well.

Australians have no freedoms. Graffiti, rubbish etc is not on but to ban everyone. Come on. I decked my D4 out the last 6 months just to do trips like the Cape this year. FFS.

Our children will also never have a chance to travel this great land as well. Land of banning freedom is what it is.

The aboriginal communities are also looking at banning the Simpson for 4wds as well. Better get the trip done before it's too late. We'll be left with nothing but city runs soon.
