    RIP Sabine.

I met her once in the late 90's when the "ring" and Sabine were not as popular as they were today. Of course the ring taxi existed already back then and we chipped in the 50DM (Deutsche Mark, this was pre-euro) per seat for a spin. Anxiously waiting as 19-20 year olds who thought they were pretty slick and fast on the ring, this small lady with (then curly) blond hair bounced up. As arrogant young kids we looked like "what"?

Of course the BMW M5 has no Jesus bar but I wish it did. Having driven the ring in an old banger, specifically built for the ring, myself the first dangerous corner the brown alert went of with Sabine remarking: "this corner needs no braking, see? you give it some more"

Years later when she hit Top Gear and especially with the van challenge, I was grinning ear to ear and I heard her voice all over in my head.

A wonderful woman who has earned and deserved the highest respect. She will be missed.

    Cheers,
    -P

You were very lucky. This is for you. Maybe it's you in the car.

I can recall her driving a Transit Van around Nurburgring at a competitive pace.

Very sad, and she certainly showed Jeremy up in that episode if IIRC.

For those that read the 'Australian",John Connolly gives her a mention.
She was really good on Top Gear.
    Another one gone too young.

Yes, it is a bloody crying shame. More so if you just spend 30 minutes reading the World news, and note how many arseholes there are crying their own pitiful case. And that is just in Australia!

Hand on dash and ceiling mate. Yes, doing that track in a van is utterly insane at that speed. I would not even consider it...

And Sabine was having a ball. She didn't rust, that's for sure.

Nor would she, she was a long way from the coast. Relatively.
