G'day rmp![]()
The Game was a Leyland Marketing idea to boost sales of the slow moving SWB Landrover as at the time it was losing to the SWB Toyota and G60 Nissan Patrol, as both had 6 cylinder motors and a good road speed, the ability to reach 60 mph (100 kph) and Sustain it was a major factor in the success of the Japanese brands, so the "Game" was devised as a Sales Promotion. seeing that the NSW transport Dept and Main Dept had recently change road road and Highway markings from Yellow lines to White there was large quantities of that paint available, Leyland, always on the lookout for something that gave best bang for their buck seized the opportunity of acquiring large quantities of this paint cheaply! and so it was the basis of the New Game, model, which was basically a SWB Station Wagon with Wheel Silver upper firewall, White 15" Sunraizier Wheels brush bar (early ARB I think) and rear mounted spare, the interior trim was Deluxe Trim, with the higher back seats, and deluxe front floor mats.with rear rubber mats, all seats and trim was in black, there were sunvisors, and a clock also fitted, rear seats were the 4 side facing individual ones. all fitted with seatbelts from memory.
That is about all that I can remember, hope that is of some help, the Spare Parts list was on a appendix sheet in the front of the Master Parts Book, as in those years the horrible "Picture Books" were in use they only had illustrations and part No's with no discriptions as in the earlier books.
cheers.
