Even worse is some printers have a counter and after so many thousand pagers it throws up a fault, making people think it's broken and they need to buy a new one, but there are codes/tricks available on the internet to reset it. We had one like that at work, I've also had success shaking toner cartridges to get quite a few more prints out of them, and also unblocked rarely used printer cartridge nozzles by soaking them in hot water, thus avoiding buying new ones.
Do a quick search on amazon returns... That is "hilarious". Stuff that gets ordered but returned for whatever reason makes enormous trips in a lorry and usually ends up in a tip since it is uneconomical to restock... I don't get it, really.

we’ve had some great bargains from our local Hardly Normal by befriending management and offering to purchase Scratch and Dent items.
The online rag trade are the same. Most of the returns are off loaded as waste as do not restock due concern that large volumes of returns sold at discount price will undermine the perceived price point of the item. People order 3 or 4 items of each piece so have one that will fit and then return the rest.
