Prince Philip visited Brisbane quite a few times. Not always for big public events. Was familiar enough with the city road network that could tell when was not being taken by the most direct route

Friend who was in the Police group that looked after dignitaries reckoned he was the only one who would pull them up and want to go the shortest route not the ‘safe’ route. No good telling him this was the short route as he was able to say which way they should be going and this was not it

    How good is this,

'Just stick me in the back of a Land Rover and drive me to Windsor': Prince Philip is granted wish | Daily Mail Online

Hopefully it will get there with out a repair stop

Edit....Seems they have been thinking ahead, this from another article about the modified Defender," In the unfortunate event that the vehicle breaks down, another identical example is waiting in the wings if needed."

There is a show on FOX called " The real Prince Philip. A royal Officer " on the history channel I think. Those who hate should watch it. It shows how he was, not how the media made him out to be.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Yeah, pragmatism at it's best. " keep calm and carry on ". Hitler couldn't beat them, the loss of a prince is small beer.
