Options to get tent from Brisbane to Darwin

    Hello from Brisbane.

I want to ship a Black Wolf Turbo 300 tent and it’s annexe and walls to Darwin. It’s in two large carry bags and weighs a lot - catalogue suggests 26kgs for the tent but it feels heavier than that.

One pack and post quote is $450 to $550 depot to depot. About $80 of that is packing and insurance.

I’m asking for advice on any alternative shipping options that might be cheaper than that. I’m loathe to try the AULRO member to member option given the bulk and weight and hope to get it there in one lift fairly soon.

    Cheers,

    Neil

Put it on AULRO Courier, you never know.
Try Brad at Hawkins Transport or Bulletman from this forum, who has his finger on the pulse in Darwin.

Do you know anyone with a TNT or Toll IPEC account. I guarantee you'd get a better price than that.

Why pack them? They could go as they are with self-adhesive shipping labels.

There are several truck company's running a daily service Brisbane to Darwin

    Shaw's transport
    Neil Mansell Transport
Toll Express - (Toll ipec )

Also try Simon Keogh he runs a weekly service .

Im not sure how often Hawkins are running ATM - but the melon season has started here so plenty of trailers headed our way so you should find a lot better price , most charge far less than that for a pallet space.

I didn't of Simon, I'd use him before the other three.

    Thanks

Thanks all for those various suggestions.

I had been going to contact Keogh's this afternoon but got held up - saw their ad on the web earlier today.

I'll either check tomorrow with a personal visit to the depot in Carole Park or follow up on the PM offer from V8Ian.

Keen to get the tent up to my son rather than have it hogging space here under the house.

    Cheers,

    Neil
