    Actually no Paul. I just accepted the car issue as a Land Rover quirk, but the phone issue at the same time had me reaching for my tinfoil hat.

    I don't know the frequency band the coppers use over there?

    Anyway, remote controls down here operate in the LPD band and a ham radio on 70cm's can operate there legally. I have had loads of fun parking up at the mcdonalds eating a burger with the mic stuck between the seats on 433.950mhz and some 50 watts of output in the antenna. Great hilarity ensues when people try to open their cars

    So, could it be? yes. Is it likely it would interfere with your phone... probably not?
