Just sitting here watching the morning news and there’s a story about the Antarctic
Apparently the majority of the western side of Antarctica’s land mass is under water
Now it all sounds simple and with there aerial photographs and illustrations it looks the part as well, but what has got me stumped (not hard to do after a big night on the ales) is when your looking or standing at the pole, which way is east and which way is west???
Between my well educated brains trust (maybe not so brainy) it appears any way you head away from the South Pole is north
As soon as you start your journey you have an easterly and westerly direction, but depending on which direction you head your east and west changes
My head is starting to hurt so I thought I’d put it to the group who should have at least one fully functional brain between them (on second thought, owning a Land Rover). and in typical AULRO style I’m going to get more than one answer, right or wrong it at least gives my head a chance to recover from last night’s effort

It is all coming back to me now (I knew school wasn’t a waste of time (maybe I need to go back for a refresher))
Start googling the right words and we get the answer

Now we can go back to pondering the rest of life’s mysteries ………
1. Why did I buy a Land Rover???
2. Why did I buy a second Land Rover????
3. Why am I still driving a Land Rover?????
4. I’ll get to 4 when I work out the answer to the first 3 questions

If you want a headache, another way to think of it is, no matter where you stand on the Earth, every direction is up.
What does my head in is where does space end , and if there is an end what is after that ??? .![]()
IIRC this has lead to an idea to slow the melting by dumping huge amounts of sand under the ice, to slow the ice melting due to being in contact with the warming sea.
