Moaning about adblue and ways to get around it is a first world problem. Adblue is cheap, helps save the planet and apart from being a pain in the arse to refill (in a D5) is a non-problem.

As an aside, while the D5 was a pain to refill at least the D5 tells the driver the tank level. The Touareg does not...at all. Apparently one gets a warning or two when its low but that's it.

To get the upgraded media software in the 2017 RRS we would have had to also take adblue, and lose 15litres of fuel capacity..
no regrets going with 2016 at all...

The urea for our AdBlue comes from China. It has been in short supply since China first slowed exports around the start of this year. Supply and demand sees prices go up until the market stabilises with consumption matching the current availability.
