I used an axe once, when I was a Boy Scout. The axe had an edge as fine as a club hammer.

dunno what the real story is with my granma's axe , but I welded a length of rhs for a handle onto the head and it's never come loose since.

I also welded some light 30mm pipe onto a cheap shovel and they're my bush kit. Raises a few eyebrows when the guys go for a morning walk.

Any good or not so good lumberjack knows that the best shoes for woodchop events are Dunlop Volleys, and not just because they have great grip when standing on top of logs, but they are also cheap as chips to replace if they chop into one!

Friend of mine dose roof restorations , he tells me Dunlop Volleys are the best shoes for his work & cheap.

I would have thought the cost of replacement shoes would be the least of your issues if a Wood Chopping contestant chopped into his shoes. [bigsad]
