No it was a school. My accountant said it was a common arrangement for workplaces to have a uniform standard, require logos, have staff buy them and then claim the cost as a tax deduction.
My workplace would also refund $100 in uniform costs directly, but then it couldn't be claimed as a tax deduction, of course.
It's a bit of an 'in' joke up here.

So. I now drive a 2018 white Prado Toyota.
I have only driven it on 2 short drives and it OK. That's all, just OK.
Next week I will be off to Cloncurry & Mt Isa so I will report back on comfort etc.
I have booked it in to get spot lights & canvas seat covers, it has a steel BB & not much else.
If I get some time off this week-end I will take it down some tracks to some creeks around here & see how it goes while cocking wheels.
One thing I will say is it seems very BIG after the D2.

That's coz of the plastic around the cabin uprights in a D2. Just massive.
After being used to a RRC looking out all the windows in a D2 is like looking out portholes.
Then there is all the plastic on the sides behind the rear seats in a D2........
And on the inside of the tailgate...............

I often drive a Prado at work. Despite their reputation for comfort, I ALWAYS get a sore neck and shoulders on long trips no matter how I adjust the seat. Funny thing is though, I never have any issues in my so called 'unergonomic' 110 County. I find the work Triton much comfier than the Prado as well.
Apart from the sore back and annoying turbo lag I don't mind the Prado. They have a pretty good load space and they pull the 2 tonne trailer quite well too, although the rear suspension does sag a lot.
Enjoy!

My mate and I came to the conclusion that the most tempting offering from the "Dark" side to replace a D2 or even a D3,4,5, would be a Ford Everest as the 3.2L is even a 5 cylinder like a TD5. It also has a Terrain Response system similar to L-R, possibly even "borrowed" from L-R when Ford owned them. The 2.0 L Bi-Turbo has similar specs to a D5 2.0 L at 500Nm each and has electronic locking rear diff. The rear seat arm rest cupholders also look just like the D2's. Obvious negatives, a bit down on towing 3100kg vs 3500 and no air suspension.

Um, it's OK.
5 hours to Cloncurry, 3 or so hours to Mt Isa & back & 5.5 hours back from Cloncurry to Doom.
First thing I noticed is the suspension, very soft & sort of feels like the top half of the car is connected to the bottom half by rubber bands. It's not sloppy, just sort of wallow & sway over all our dips, lumps & un-even surfaces. Absorbs bumps well but feels odd.
BTW My D2 has after market suspension.
The second & by far most annoying, frustrating, inexplicable part is the 6 speed auto box!
What an odd bit of kit. 6th is moon shot high, it constantly changes from 5th to 6th & back even on our flat roads West of Burke & Wills. When in 6tth it feels & sounds like the engine is under revving, straining at 100kph, at 1010-115 it feels a little more comfortable but not right. At 110 even a gust of headwind will drop it back to 5th, from B&W to Curry, which is all little hills, dips but nothing in any way steep, the thing changed gears constantly, grabbing 4th now & again. Drove me crackers, after about 50k I put it in manual mode 5th but it still would change gear occasionally.
Much, much, MUCH prefer the 6 speed in the D3 or even the 4 in the D2, it's a silly gear box!
The engine is not really very powerful &, this might be the gear box, lacks torque.
The divers seat is OK, took a while to get the position right &, as I'm short, I was surprised that the seat base didn't reach the back of my knees but no real complaints. The kids like the back, said there was more room than the D2, wider & A/C. SWMBO said it was OK but the window base was a bit high, she is really short.
It's not as big as I thought until you fold the back seats, then it has some room but I doubt it is big as the D3. A funny thing is that to fold the 3rd row seats into the floor they have raised the floor? Makes for a bit of a lift & just seems lazy. Speaking of lazy several bits of the car design seem that way. The center stack & touch screen looks like an after thought, the switches are a bit all over the place & who uses a stalk for the Cruise Control any more?
The positives are it rained all the way from B&W to Doom it didn't leak a bit, the parking sensors put a cool little diagram on the touch screen, the A/C is outstanding & it's fairly quiet though I miss that 5 pot sound.
Now I dive one I have noticed they really are as common as the proverbial & I can't explain why. They are OK but in no way impressive or exceptional, maybe people like bland but I'm buggered if I know how they put up with that gear box??
