    Irridium plugs

OK So far my LPG search has borne fruit. Spoke to Ron Flanagan up at Torque gas in Caloundra and he seems to know the biz! Says they do a DII a week.

I'm probably going to go for the 60l usable scuba array on the rear floor and build a falsy over the top. $2530 installed! 1 Day.

Ron says they ECU handles the gas conversion fine.

    Some anomalies came up though.

    What are irridium spark plugs

And Are Disco plug leads troublesome. Never heard of that before but Ron says that one thing they always do is change plugs and leads in the DII.

Every rover V8 I buy gets new leads. standard units are well a bit ordinary. Irridium Plugs are made of high grade metal alloy and are quoted as higher quality than standard plugs.

The Ngk cat states that Engines on Lpg Should have leads replaced with high quality items and use high grade plugs, Also says that leads should not be bundled together as miss fire can occure. They go on to talk about 1 range colder in plug to compensate for higher combustion temp. However they say that standard range plugs are Ok in most engines.

Iridium Plug = Spark Plug Cost x 5
    Spark Plug Life x (1+x)
    Spark Plug Efficiency x (1xy)

They're better, but cost more. I've never used them, the one time I tried to get them the auto shop didn't have 4 in stock, so I got the Bosch 4 pronged plugs, which made a noticable difference in the 2.25 SIII on ULP & LPG, but no difference to the 3.5 Range Rover on either ULP or LPG.

On lpg I have always run 1 colder than standard. Improves engine smoothness. Irridium are nice but not neccessary.

LPG needs a strong spark. I run NGK plugs, a little hotter than standard and a set of Bosh leads. Can't remember the lead name but they have a five year warranty, are expensive, and when you put a multi-meter on them, you can't measure the resistance. The leads have been on for near 7 years now and no problems.
