Can't see why it wouldn't go off when son was playing in there earlier in day, but goes off later at night for no reason

was it hot during the day and cold at night...?

It might be a good idea to show your wife where the fuse for the horn is. That way if it happens again, she can shut it up quick and easy.

My D2 just did the exact same thing to my girlfriend.

The horn sounded continuously for 45 minutes from 2am! The good part of the story is that I was away working night shift.

Eventually it stopped of it's own accord, but now the horn doesn't work at all. The fuse blew, but replacing it hasn't fixed the problem (for those hunting the fuse, it's in the fuse block near the battery).

Time to start hunting gremlins I guess.

    Lucas electrics?

Maybe your Landy saw that movie recently, Little Miss Sunhine, where the Kombi does this for several days and thought it would be fun - well that's one way to upset the missus.....

the alarm system was warning of an 'unknown' driver.

My fair lady hates my landy coz it never starts for her. The starter solinoid is a bit sticky and I need to turn it on and off several times before it works - I haven't told her about it she thinks it's possessed

Cracks me up but I'm gunna cop it when I finally let on

Maybe like the rest of us old blokes, it can't keep it up indefinitely. Did you check the coolant for traces of Viagra?
