    Back from the Harvey Trip

the Image above is from my GPS recording the day out in a Green Track. the Insert is a close up at a track size of 3pixels when down to 1 pixel the tracks are doubled in their complexity with our up and down of same obstacles.

Well we all returned relatively unscathed, richard K nearly lost a rear shock in his RR classic, Tony (Frenchie) had some unauthorized panel work done in his Defender Extreme, James hit so hard that he kept knocking his Fuel sender in and out of correct readings in his defender wagon. mike (Richards Son) Galantly attempted some viscious obstacles of mud and rock with road tyres on his New Navara ute I only hope there was no major damage done , The 90 with us bent a track rod and dented his roof of his niceley modded V8 90 and the vehicle of the day has to be Gordon "Haggis" in his TDV6 D3 which made most obstacles appear not to be so. climbed without an effort just damaging some cosmetic plastic stuff. I appeared to escape any damage on "The Pigs" first day out But then again it would be hard to damage a stolen internet picture , hey Dullbird
I took some video and once edited I will post for all to see...
great day had thanks to all who participated and condolences for those who couldn't make it. "LandyAndy" included.

'Twas a great day out, all thanks to RichardK - the D90 (twin lockers and Simex tyres) was pretty impressive, as was Frenchie's Defender Xtreme. A bit more mud would have been nice, and maybe next time we'll try the Dragon's Back!!

I had a _little_ bit more damage than just a plastic fender, but nothing too major

On the climb up the fence-line, I caught the air compressor box up on a rock - under the car between the sill protector and the chassis rail - the _only_ part of the car not covered by a bash plate

Got an immediate "suspension fault" light in the cabin, and I think most people there heard the rock tearing into the plastic cover around the compressor

The car reset itself to "normal" on-road height and so for the last couple of climbs, I took the er, um, easy way around ....

Prior to that though, the D3 went like a dream - I think my sill protector plates + nurf bars took most of the hits, saving the body from any damage.

Pulled the compressor casing (what was left of it) off this morning, cleaned out the connectors (one was a little loose), did a software reset and the car's back to normal. I'll definitely be looking at making up a protective plate for it though!

I've posted some photos up at

    http://s64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ey_07_07_2006/

with some more to come today (connection's a little slow at the moment).

On a side note, if any of you gentlemen wish to come and lend some moral support at the next round of the NightOwl Championship, it'll be on over the weekend of the 5th/6th August up near Toodyay. I've heard a few Jeepers have decided to enter class A to give us a bit of competition, so some enthusiastic LR supporters would be nice

Maybe that D90 should enter - it'd be class B, which the Jeepers have pretty much to themselves at the moment

    Cheers,

    Gordon

It was indeed a great days driving, momentarily spoiled in the morning by the uncaring forresters who have removed huge areas of pines and left large amounts of debris and totally hidden some good tracks. I don't think they consider us 4 wheelers at all

Fortunately there are other areas and we relocated to some very challenging slippery hills and deep holes which were good entertainment for the day.

At this point I must say that the D3 without a doubt would be the most capable 4WD off the showroom floor and there is no doubt that LR's traction control as in Frenchies Defender makes these kind of vehicles put Diff locks etc. off the wish list.

90's 90 is a very formidable machine, sounds good, looks good and performs extremely well

It was great to meet some new faces and I thoroughly enjoyed the day thanks for your company.
