Kind of ironic given that you're in Queensland which has had bugger-all infections or restrictions over the last two years. I've had three jobs during the pandemic and I would've been in the respective offices maybe a month in total since November 2019 - and that's across all three jobs. I literally didn't recognise one of my new colleagues the other day when she was standing outside a bar we were all meeting at.

No-one is going to force you to have boosters, same way no-one forces you to get the updated flu-vax every year. But Covid is probably now endemic, like the flu, and some years it'll be good and some years it'll be bad: I'll be getting any updates that are offered.

ABS reports seem to be well done. And in Qld we have been very lucky with very temporary loss of 'liberties' (whatever they are...we dont have the bill of rights like the US, yet we still do OK). I think in Qld we dont have much clue about loss of freedoms. (Edit - ie we havent lost them due to Covid19).

Yes, wouldn't it be sweet to see everyone out on their arrises with all new faces happily taking on those jobs, not that the thought of a wonderful Remuneration & perks tempered their decision. Heaven forbid!
This is a fanciful notion even if true but any future bunch that gains Govt. would already have been tarred with the same brush as the bunch who are there now. They may go into it believing they are honest & caring but as human nature shows, they would all be back to square 1 in a few months when they see what fruits are available to them & their mates. Human weakness/nature take over.

The Public Service would also need to get the chop & start from scratch. An impossibility or Pie in the Sky I'm afraid.

Better to temporarily lose a few "liberties" than one's life.
I think it was more a minor inconvenience, rather than a loss of freedom or rights.

I agree Ian. It didnt worry me. But even if some peope (ie in this thread and elsewhere) describe it as something stronger, in the end it was well worth it.

Was all done in 1975 - also the PM can ask the Queen to remove the GG - in 1975 it was a race to see who would sack who first and the GG won.

(a) Any such power is limited by conventions; and

(b) that's not the same thing as removing every member of parliament in some form of Vice-Regal coup.
