I would suggest that, if PhillipA and his wife are regular golfers, they would be getting enough weekly UVB to have adequate Vitamin D levels.
Residing at Avoca Beach would also mean plenty of sun.

Agree. In theory yes... But Spain is one of the most 'D-deficient' countries in Europe.
Confounder is...... Very sunny and HOT place, so the Natives take shelter in buildings and Air Conditioned places.[bigsad]
D is very much an individual response, advancing age.. and cholesterol lowering meds (statins) mitigate against generation, hence the advisability of personal Testing.
Add to that, Those Who Know would suggest the "normal" numbers are in fact, not high enough. Primitive African tribes tend to show higher levels than ours, and they don't suffer as much from flu's colds etc.
'Relative Risk Reduction' or ABSOLUTE Risk Reduction ?
Simple differance, RRI is what the used car salesman uses when he sells you the safety features, whereas 'ARR' is what YOU, the buyer, is interested in before parting with the Pounds.
What the Lancet said...
"Vaccine efficacy is generally reported as a relative risk reduction (RRR). It uses the relative risk (RR)—ie, the ratio of attack rates with and without a vaccine—which is expressed as 1–RR. Ranking by reported efficacy gives relative risk reductions of 95% for the Pfizer–BioNTech, 94% for the Moderna–NIH, 91% for the Gamaleya, 67% for the J&J, and 67% for the AstraZeneca–Oxford vaccines. However, RRR should be seen against the background risk of being infected and becoming ill with COVID-19, which varies between populations and over time. Although the RRR considers only participants who could benefit from the vaccine, the absolute risk reduction (ARR), which is the difference between attack rates with and without a vaccine, considers the whole population. ARRs tend to be ignored because they give a much less impressive effect size than RRRs:
1·3% for the AstraZeneca–Oxford,
1·2% for the Moderna–NIH,
1·2% for the J&J,
0·93% for the Gamaleya, and
0·84% for the Pfizer–BioNTech vaccines."

Bear in mind we're talking about a bloke who DARES to get up every day and.... Touch Things... even his Toaster...[bigsad][bigsad][bigsad]
In answer toSuperquag.
my vitamin D level is good and take 2x1000mg a day on doctor advice.wife ok but low in b12 so has shot every three months. I also take b12 tabs.
we both have blood tests every 12 months.
Currently many friends and family getting COVID but nobody too serious so far.
Regards PhilipA
Seeing I tend to get flu every year
mildly I too sometimes question vax but don’t know alternative. Because of my work history overseas and travel I have dozens of different vacs coursing around my blood but still on two feet.
Most of us get vaccinated to not only protect ourselves But to also protect others.
As far as I am concerned the anti vaxers are just a bunch of selfish tossers.
I have been out begging again. I was masked up. Not enough Covid Vaccines due to STUPID rulz change and our 2 week ordering Cycle meaning almost none of us giving vaccines have any or enough to give this week[bighmmm]
While out begging for vaccine I did see a person I know to have Covid in place I was hunting in[bighmmm] A mask was on at least. Its fairly well known tens of thousands of people are wandering around while very very infectious right now almost everywhere. Its not going to hurt them apparently so they mostly do not have masks on [bigwhistle]
Staff Crook again here. Caring is not sharing!
We have some people from the UK floating around work this week, they look at us Aussies wearing masks with a slightly bemused expression, after all in their homeland there is no need to wear masks, isolate or stop attending work because you have the covies. Mind you if they catch it here they won't be going home on schedule [bigwhistle]. The people we had out last week are starting to trickle back to work, all had symptoms no worse than the non-covid flu that is circulating in Canberra at the present.

Tote
Vaccines are not aimed at variants. they are aimed at Virus types. They don't stop you getting a virus. they only help your immune system deal with it. This information he's been shared over and over again., so why do you continue to ask such misleading rhetorical questions? Schmacks of conspiracy theory nutjobery to me.
