The state based arguments are a bit odd. I think all states even Vic have done an amazing job. Not political inspired at all.
The US has 12 times our population with 333,506,000+ to our 25703000+ people. We have contained dead to 1448, they sadly have 724000 and adding more than our total deaths daily. Today they have 130.883 time more dead than we do. (1448 to 12)
Rough numbers or statistics? They are dead people, friends, family, mum's, dads, kids. Not meaning to be morbid or depressing. Really pleased with the efforts more than 90% of us have helped with. The rate of hospitalizations will go up here. The death rates are massively lower than this time last year and not going to escalate according to most forcasts/modeling and statistics.
A day off for me to do my rotten tax returns *3. Oh the joy of working out how well those silly investments I made last year made me
Friday dinner with 10 here is still off for me. All my family and mates know I am seeing hundreds+++ people each week so are happy for me to stay away for a little longer alasFishing on the other hand- Bring it on

Inc that would probably tie in with our own experiences where those who have died having being fully vaccinated are invariably the very old and infirmed with few younger fully vaccinated dying. While there is some evidence that two doses may impart some long term protection, there is also evidence that is may not though we do know cover does drop off but not clear to what level in the longer term. So to me until these factors are known and the next generation of vaccines are introduced it would be foolish not to have a third shot as a precaution, starting with the elderly.
I agree with Tote and others that the NSW experience does seem to show vaccines are bringing down infections, as well as earlier lockdowns but this is not the case in the ACT. The ACT went into lockdown in Aug with the highest vaccination rate in the country and even with lockdown the 7 day average has stayed relatively constant with daily figures up and down over a large range - to me this shows that vaccines and lockdowns (noting we have the most compliant population in the country) are not necessarily the answer in themselves and that something else is involved but I am not sure what it is. If the NSW experience is to used we should have had a constantly decline 7 day average of infections almost from the start but we haven't. 17 again today.

My son has been taking his daughter in to Canberra for work - and is horrified by the poor compliance compared to what he sees in Yass! He won't even get out of the car.
