Hence their headline this morning that the US was about to pass 800,000 deaths

What concerns are a few thousand corpses here or there, just round the figures off Hank/Hiram?

BBC "The UK has recorded the highest number of daily Covid-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, with 78,610 reported on Wednesday.

The previous record was 68,053 on 8 January - when the UK was in lockdown.

Speaking at a news conference, England's chief medical officer Prof Chris Whitty warned that records will be broken a lot in the next few weeks.

He added people should prioritise what matters with regards to social mixing in the run-up to Christmas.

Speaking alongside Prof Whitty, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said it was "absolutely vital" that everyone gets a booster jab.

He warned that in some areas the doubling rate for cases was now under two days, adding: "I'm afraid we're also seeing the inevitable increase in hospitalisations up by 10% nationally, week-on-week, and up by almost a third in London."

NSW hospital data trend is more interesting perhaps- That trend is not our friend

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

All this talk about how Omicron is not as dangerous as Delta has conveniently forgotten about Long COVID. So, calculating the impact of long COVID, from the Conversation.

We calculated the impact of 'long COVID' as Australia opens up. Even without Omicron, we're worried (theconversation.com)

What is it with these fools? The young man who caused the super spreader event in Newcastle was supposed to self isolate, but he went to the night club instead. What hope do we have, when our safety relies on people doing the right thing? Now the Authorities are asking Newcastle residents to give Xmas a miss. Couple of questions. Why open up and drop restrictions when it's obvious it's not the right time.? And why are the crew who lost control of Delta still in charge ?.
192 in hospital. 26 in ICU
Postpone Xmas, Newcastle residents told, as Omicron cases explode (thenewdaily.com.au)

You can but try shipmate, but all you will find in there are a $10 note & my 3 x Vax. Certificate. There could also be a lock of Napoleon's hair or is it Lord Nelson's? Buggered if I know now, but some body donated it to me.

Immunisation updates within the modules as updated on Friday, December 16.
All changes from this week, as usual, are indicated by "NEW" and/or "UPDATED" in blue and white within the modules as well as summarised here.
All changes related to booster information is indicated by "NEW" in orange and white within the modules as well as summarised here.

Module 1 Topic 1 – The TGA have given two new provisional approval in December which have now been added to the timeline. On 5 December 2021 Pfizer (COMIRNATY) (For Age 5 to <12) vaccine was provisionally approved for children aged 5 to 11 years. On 8 December 2021 Moderna (SPIKEVAX) was provisionally approved as a booster dose for individuals 18 years and over.

Module 3 Topic 3 – Under common consumer concerns, question 11 on ‘do I need a booster dose’ has had the answers revised. The answers now read “The TGA has provisionally approved the Pfizer (COMIRNATY) and Moderna (SPIKEVAX) vaccines as booster doses for individuals 18 years and older, at least 5 months after the completion of a COVID-19 vaccine primary course (TGA, 2021e; ATAGI, 2021z).
A single COVID-19 vaccine booster dose is recommended for people aged 18 years and over who completed their primary COVID-19 vaccine course more than 5 months ago. Either Pfizer (COMIRNATY) or Moderna (SPIKEVAX) can be used as a booster dose, regardless of which vaccine was used for the primary course (ATAGI, 2021x).”
Module 3 Topic 5 and 6 – The booster doses section has been updated to reflect ATAGIs most recent booster recommendation given the Omicron variant. “Booster doses of Pfizer (COMIRNATY) and Moderna (SPIKEVAX) are available for anyone 18 years of age or older who have completed their primary course at least 5 months ago, irrespective of the vaccine brand used for their primary course (ATAGI, 2021x; ATAGI, 2021z).
