    That's 4B's line.

Anyway here's some nice music from FZ having a dig at a pollie, from 1974..........

Frank Zappa - Son of Orange County - YouTube

The guitar solos are actually a mix from 4 or so live events held around the same time, to produce a truly exceptional piece of work.

    cheers, DL

Certainly not a reason to be complacent but I am glad to be in Australia.

A while ago the NYT had a profile of a youngish bloke in the USA who died of Covid. He was about 40 I think.

Basically, he got Covid, never went to hospital, and died at home on his own.

He had untreated diabetes but what struck me was that the fact that his family just seemed to accept that you could have a serious illness and there was nothing remarkable about it going untreated for decades.

The NHS is flawed in many ways but at least you'd get treated to some extent.

Good part of being in the southern hemisphere is we get to learn about the winter bugs in the Northern Hemisphere. Hearing a omicron specific booster vax is well under way. The seasonal flu vax is made to deal with the current and emerging types as they mutate each year.

The amazing part of the 1 hour to create the MRNA vaccine types, plus months and 1000s of arms to test them of course, is the ability to almost print to order vaccines and cancer treatments we will be seeing in a few years time rather than the current one size fits all.

"Since You’re Already Getting a Flu Shot, Why Not One for Covid, Too?Scientists and federal health officials are debating plans to pair coronavirus and flu vaccinations in the fall." News from the US which was expected as that is the silly old bugger testing I volunteered for. Covid has mutated significantly and is likely to continue to do so. Will it be like and joined with our 2023 flu shots? I suspect so. I hope its a single needle not the current 6-10 dose vials. I am so over counting

I've been in NSW the last 2 weeks. I rushed to the airport today to jump an earlier flight (which I only made because it had been delayed 15 minutes) so my wife could bring the lad out to the airport to pick me up. I get in the screening queue to get a photo of a positive RAT. I offered to catch a cab to a hotel while she isolates which wasn't "well received".

Got home and thought "I'll do a RAT before I have a chance to pick it up from home" and returned a strong positive. I was negative this morning, but it finally got me.
I'm not surprised though. I spent a *lot* of time in close quarters on public transport in Sydney and very few people were wearing masks.

Hoping It's a minor inconvenience with no lasting impact.

Its a bit more than ferals with spreading it about ignorantly Brad. Happily 90% plus of the vaccinated get very mild cases. I hope your in the majority sir. My youngest is in last few days of ISO. He was out on a skipping rope yesterday- clearly not major issues for him.

The new B2.12.1 is kicking the crap out of everyone in the US and I assume other places. A news story on the NYT suggest well over 100,000 reported cases daily again and 5 times that with unreported cases likely. only a 28% increase in people in Hospital over there. It is not here much yet and unfortunatly is reinfecting a large percentage of Americans.

"Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine (BNT162b2) neutralize the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant after three doses." 2 dose is not safe now. I often find people reluctant to have offered booster dose due to the same bull dust stories sadly.

Many of us think it is almost certainly going to be like and part of the yearly flu vaccine which is changed to target the current variants.

Due to the reluctance of some to get vaccinated this is likely to be a shocker of a winter all over here. Hope the B2.12.1 stays north is hopeless sadly.

The nice scientist are happily still at work in the back ground. Heaps of at risk people are now getting the new Anti-virals which substantially reduce hospitalizations when people get covid. You can get them from for GP now- PHONE CONSULT - E-scripts and phone consultations rock! Not in person pretty please for flu and covid

Sure you got it in Sydney from the Great unwashed on trains & buses ?

If you want the Real Truth on say.... merits of various transmission fluids... you consult independent experts - WITH Experience... - not the Customer Service bloke at the Stealer...

anyway, chances are you've got the later variant... more infectious and less pathogenic. Very little is going to totally protect.

I've got EVERY Risk Factor.. including most vulnerable blood type (I'm told).and been exposed to a FIFO family member who's tested POS... Two actually,... second is a flight Steward who would NEVER tell me... which explains why he had a week or so away from work.
i'm still ok, and only wear a mask if Mark - McG is having a conniption . - Another family member works around him... and hasn't tested pos.

My GP is a surgeon, and his take, surprisingly, is.... masks are useless in Theatre, EXCEPT for 'spit and Dribble' . And for Drama.

Make the most of your enforced holiday... down the beach. In the sun .

.... anything then I won't read something purporting to be the "truth", because if it has to identify as such then the overwhelming likelihood is it isn't.

Your surgeon mate is right about "spit and dribble", which is precisely why they're effective at limiting COVID spread as well.
