And ladies can drive manual trucks too [emoji13] and reverse the heck out of them [emoji108][emoji119][emoji119]
I'd love to have been a truckie.
I've got one of the Samsung tellys too! Was never into smart TV's but it's awesome.

I thought the phone camera trick showed you if the TV remote was working as it can "see" infrared.

Phone ‘trick’ is dependent on camera refresh rates.

And bugger plasma - had a HD Yamaha unit for 20 odd years. Great picture and excellent at warming the room in winter [emoji16]

An RCA to HDMI box is $30

    They probably don't.
Just get some shoddy Chinese fridge makers to knock them up and then stick their badge on it.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

TV's used to be a simple device that you plugged in and they just worked for 20+ years, now I'm sure it's sending back info on everything we watch.....

Could be worse - a couple of years ago I had to take my new bike light (as in bicycle light) to a dealer so the software could be reflashed.

If you want to keep using the same TVs why don't you get a set-top box? When we moved back from the UK we brought our plasma TV back with us - it doesn't have local channels so we plugged in a local set-top box. Worked perfectly and we upgraded to a new set-top box when free to air changed.

Funny you mention that, Arapiles. I just scored a new TelstraTV gadget, which arrived yesterday!

Is it the one that has no on/off switch, only the remote?
Call me suspicious if you want to but just seems like big brother (Telstra) may be listening to you
Ours gets unplugged when not being used [emoji1531]
