    Vale Bert Newton.

An Australian entertainment icon, passed away overnight at 83.
RIP Bert and thanks for the wonderful memories.

One of those outrageously famous people I've never heard anyone say a word against.

Not even : "My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who heard Bert snap at the waitress at 31 flavours".

    Proper old school entertainer.

I can vouch for that, as I met Bert Newton and Sigrid Thornton once in circumstances when they had cause to complain, but they were very pleasant.

Also Mick Molloy made a few jokes about Bert's missing leg on "The Frontbar" and didn't seem worried about any repercussions, saying Bert's a gag man he'll love it.
