The one time I was worried about crossing Eli Creek was just on dark when I took my wife for a look at the creek. Well we were a little too late trying to return to camp which was north of Eli. The tide was half in and I had to watch for the wave surge to go back out when I saw by my headlights a school of fish swimming where I wanted to drive
!
A little daunted but I got out and walked the path I wanted to drive. About 600mm deep water between the surges so I timed my approach. I really frightened that school of fish but made it through ok.
By the way, choose your gear before you cross. Low range third did me fine. Don't try and change gears part way. This was in my previous '97 Defender Wagon.
Fraser is a really great place to go. Just be careful and don't rush too much.
