I remember seeing a senior (and rather toffee) pilot of such interviewed on telly some years back, who referred to his F111 as a B111, he flew a bomber, not a fighter, harrumph! you peasants, LOL. I'll gladly have one when they retire them from military service. Now if only I can afford the juice..........Ballina to Darwin in about a blink of the eye, cool! Actually I'll give 'em $50 for theone that just bellied, not too hard to fix eh guys? Wonder where the wheel that fell off ended?
Cheers, GQ

I did see a wheel from an A4 Skyhawk (actually a failed nuclear bomber that became a fighter - but had a attack -A designator) bounce down the flight deck of HMAS Melbourne after the A4 did a touch and go. The wheel bounced over the head of the flight deck officer who most likely had to go for a change of undies shortly after.
The A4 which had drop tanks on, landed back at NAS Nowra on the drop tanks leaving the plane undamaged - it was just jacked up and the wheel replaced and back in the air a bit later after a medical checkup to make sure nothing was damaged.
Gazzz
There's an old Landcruiser trayback out the front of Berrimah Radiators in Darwin, that got struck by a concrete mock-up bomb that fell of a jet going into land at Darwin RAAF base.
You cannot tell me the pilot wouldn't be asking for a enlargement of this :D :D
