The AULRO equivalent to a VC. Well earned Mario and Heather.
We had the OT back yesterday, to address the problems for safe transfers. l have a ceiling fitted hoist in the bedroom this solves the the issue of hoisting me out of bed to my commode, this helps me to be moved to the toilet and shower. but after shower and getting dressed there is the issue of transferring to my lounge chair or to my powered wheel chair.
Until recently l could stand with assistance and shuffle my feet to move the other aids, but now being unable to stand upright and unable to shuffle its difficult to safely transfer from one to another. We do use a slide board but that involves Heather Bear hugging me , keeping her back straight and using the power of her legs to lift me in stages along the board. Due to the individual leg rests on my power chair which are also long are in the way and a slide board can't be used.
The only alternative is some sort of portable lifting device to accomplish this.
other wise I have to be wheeled back to the bedroom get hoisted off the commode , left dangling whilst the commode is removed from the room then some one has to disengage the 2 drive levers from the motors underneath the chair to put the in free spool so it can be manually pushed to the bedroom, place it underneath me so l can be lowered on to that.
The chair is very heavy and is difficult to steer. And it doesn't solve the lounge room chair transfer. So the OT is going to arrange an in home trial of a couple of portable lilting devices and liaise with my neuro physio.
I have not been to the forums for awhile and when i do check in i read this. [bigsad] I hope there is some relief for you in the future. Wish i could say more.

Hi I don't know if you have read article about Mario condition. He has MSA (Multiple system atrophy)
This is terminal, people with this can expect life 6 to 10 years and his doctor think that he is in his 5th year last year. The best way I can explain it is like Parkinson but not, it is faster.
So after running the business for 15 years, it time to have a rest and spend time with family. Heather
Hi Mario and Heather,
Thanks for your knowledgeable and friendly help over the last few years, hope you get plenty of restful time with the family.
Cheers,
Andy
Well today it is an end of a era for us selling Land Rover parts. We would like to thank every one on the forum all there support through the 15 years for our business and your friendship. Today I wasn't stressed with invoices and chasing parts, and getting to the post office to send orders out. Now it is a new step forward looking after Mario. If I could see everyone in person they would get a big hug and thank from me. Heather
Thank you both for the exceptional service you have given us, over those years. No superlatives really describe how good the service was.
Just to let you know how Mario is traveling, well we have support coming in 4 mornings a week now. Nurse next door are looking at to increasing 2 support workers coming per day to look after Mario so it frees me up to do some thing else. With only one coming in I would still be helping. They want to get a permanent team going that Mario feel happy with and they know the routine. The ladies that we have coming in at the moment we are very happy with and they will be part of the team. As now his voice is getting really hard for me to understand now. We are using the ceiling hoist in the bedroom, and a hired mobile hoist to lift him on his chair in the lounge room. We are waiting on NDIS to approve the money to buy a mobile hoist. Thanks again guys. Heather
Thanks for the update, I must confess it has crossed my mind several times, wondering how you are both going, so it's certainly appreciated.
