pretty damp here in downtown Godwin Beach at a lowly 3m above sea level but we are fairing a lot better than my eldest daughter up at Pomona. more than half her acreage is under water and it's still rising..

about to try and get hold of my son out Laidley way and see how he is getting on..

hope everyone is safe and dry out there...

We were on Fraser island, our parents had to get us back home to school,i remember them saying

From the Forestry camp at Coomboo lake,Series one with wooden trailer in tow, dodging the dead trees and the sea, at the south end of the island, washed up.King tide rising, luckily Gorden Elmer saw the flashing headlights of the vehicle as he was going to head off.He had been radioed the day before, but we were running late, and with the tide,he didnt think we would get there..

Couldnt get the barge in,it was very rough and blowing a gale.Eventually, with hand signal communication, through around 1M of sea water,we eventually were on the barge and tied down.Over on the other side,it wouldnt start, battery flat as a tack, the generator light had been on for most of the trip.Jump started it into life, off the barge, and home around 5 hours later, all soaked through like drowned rats

i think it was wetter inside the vehicle than outside.

i remember also, whenever the speed into the water was enough for the water to hit the windscreen,it used to splutter and usually die,out with the can of RP7,i think it was called in those days, give the engine a good spray, then off again until the next time it happened. And on that trip it happened with regularlity.A bit hairy when it happened on the beach dodging the waves.

EDIT,we also had the school holidays extended for a week, same as this year because of Covid.

Here in Westlake , my small rain gauge started over flowing on Wednesday but was raining too heavy to empty it , we have had a lot more rain on Thursday & Friday . I emptied it this morning but it has been raining stead all night. The gauge holds 150mm , my guess is we have had at least 400mm this week so far because the pool had come up around 350mm & started overflowing around 4pm yesterday , but we had lost power 10pm the night before so could not use the pump.

I had a mini moke Californian that used to splutter and konk out even in light rain, A rubber glove over the dizzy (one finger for each plug and one for the coil) secured with cable ties sorted that problem out
