If I was out bush I wouldn't mind but not at home , It wasn't so bad until we lost power , we still had an oven , kettle , toaster & oven , to cook with but wears a bit thin for any length of time.

OI! No hint intended. Just my SoH to save you braving the Rain, Ice & snow And Floods.

Fin bloke has just left leaving smiles on our faces so not going to jump out of our tallest building or blow me brains out.

He should be the one with problems, he drives a new Discovery, well about 6 months olde. A grey job, Diseasel.. But he is most pleased with it. Odd that.

EDIT. By that RADAR it appears as though the bad **** has now gone offshore. It would have been noice to have shared it, 2" would have been noice, overnight.

    Old fashioned? Moi?

But not going somewhere because of Tolls is a real **** poor excuse.

I have just inherited her "old" smart phone as her employer just issued new ones to their management team.

I am slowly understanding how the smartphone can take control of everything in our dailly lives.....actually quite painlessly

So yeah, once you get used to using these things you don't need to visit the at machines( my computer wont let me write the abbreviated form)

so, the smart phone, as long as it is charged is making life so much easier for the thousands of flood affected people without power, access to their banks , or other services they need.

and just to add to everything , we are experiencing thunderstorms and more heavy rain this morning....better charge my phone up hahaha.

Me too but some jobs just need "cash or no job mate".

Was coming from Export Industrial Park some where near Brisbane Airport .I would thought Gateway , Logan Motor Way then Centenary Hwy & turn off at Darra exit to go to Westlake . would have been quickest even if roads were not flooded . Just didn't want to pay tolls.

How much are the tolls? We don't have them here YET. . & how do you actually pay them, a quick flash of the Credit card as you fly through the entrance or wot?,

All those roads were clear,so no excuse.
Centenary was shut at Jindalee,so i presume to get to your place would have been easy.

    Tolls,what a load of crap

    4BEE,they have different amounts,cars,commercial vehicles,private vehicles,company vehicles,trucks,etc.
Different prices at different tolls.Same as tunnels.
    Some are $3.00,some $6.00,at a guess.

Transponder on windscreen activates when travelling through,we have an account, paid monthly.
It certainly adds up,one job for us can cost over $25.00 in tolls.

You will be getting them one day for sure.
    We had none once....

Thanks Paul.. The Transponder sounds the shot so long as it can't be fiddled with by Govt.

Does away with the expensive bloke in the little box then?

Tell me, how do visitors get on? Do they have to go through the rigamarole of getting a Trannie or do you buy them from the little weed/Mum & Dad shop down the road?

    EDIT. S'ok i found this.

Not sure for a body truck if that is what they were using or a courier would be different charges , they charge by no of axels , You have a transponder mounted on inside if windscreen that registers as you drive under the gantry , I usually have $50 on mine which automatically gets toped up from my bank account when it is getting low . & they send you notification when they have done a bank withal. If you don't have a transponder the camera will take a photo of your No Plate & they will send you an account with an administration fee.

I just received a message saying they are coming between 8.30 & 11.30 tomorrow morning.

    Ok,Google is your friend.

I have noticed our transponder works in the Sydney area so maybe they are all hooked up together, ripping us off.

I remember when we bought the D4 from a Melbourne dealer we drove it back with no plates on it,which is within the rules.Through the tolls around Sydney and here for a few days,no worries

But yes the bill we get for our work vehicles is pretty high, just imagine what it would be like for some of these large trucking firms.

Don’t know what tourists do about tolls, maybe it goes on the car hire bill when they get it.
