There are several things at play here and while Google is one of them, the biggest factor in the social media arena is that the laws governing social media sites have been viewed differently by the courts in Australia and the decision by the courts last year have greatly altered the playing field and where liability sits for things people post on places like AULRO. com

I now need cover my butt as I am held responsible for the content posted on the forum

Therefore contentious issues need to be addressed in a non public area

CA is the place to do that

Sadly thats the nature of the beast these days

Can only tell it as it is and if people cannot live with it then so be it... I don't want anyone leaving but I also need to cover my butt

The problem is not discussion, it’s the resulting emotional melee. If all forum members were capable of a rational and dispassionate discussion of these issues, CA wouldn’t be necessary.

JT, this place will be poorer for your absence, so please rethink your desire to leave. We cannot change your mind of course but, even though you have not met most of us, we are all your friends.

I get Inc's situation, if someone on here writes something that someone else takes the wrong way or is just defamatory or fits into other avenues of legalese. Then it is Inc left holding the subpoena, and nobody wants that to happen.

I'm not in CA either, like Saitch I don't see the point. Discussing politics/geopolitics and the like is like masturbating with a cheese grater, slightly interesting, mostly painful.
