    Vale Rod Marsh.

Passed away in Adelaide after a heart attack in Bundaberg, last week.
His prowess as a wicketkeeper needs no elaboration.
Condolences to his family, teammates and many friends.

He endeared himself to many over here with his response before and after the underarm incident of '81.

He was heard to say before the underarm ball: “Don’t do it mate!” Shook his head as it was being 'delivered'. He was the first one to shake Edgar's hand after the 'bowl'. A mighty player remembered from my younger days watching the tests. RIP.

    Yep, a complete one-off.

As you say, condolences to his family. For those of us who didn't know him, but grew up with him the ever-present heart and soul of the team, no 'keeper could ever get near the place Rodney Marsh occupied so naturally in the heart of the country - and, for that matter, in the hearts of cricket lovers around the world. When I was a kid, it was unimaginable that anybody but Rodney would ever be wearing those gloves.

Heard an interview on 3AW the other day. The person being interviewed (can't remember his name so will call him Mr X) was on the same plane as Rod.

Mr X was in the business of supplying de fibulators to clubs and businesses.

When they got off the plane Rod had only carry on luggage so left the airport.

Had he have had checked baggage he would have been waiting with Mr X who had a de fib in his golf bag.

It was only a few minutes later that Rod had his heart attack
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."
