    Ankle round 2

Been 7 years since I shattered my ankle and the plate on the inner side was giving me grief so just had it and 10 of the 14 screws removed.

Good luck with it. I now have two fake knees. I've got an idea of what you're dealing with.

When I broke my fibula and tibia early last year, surgeon asked if I wanted a cast or a rod put in.
I went for the rod. After the convalescence and hobbling around,I had pain where the ankle meets the 2 bones.
Also had bruising there that never went away.
A year went by and the last follow up I asked the specialist when I could get the 2 pins out from the lower part as they were giving me grief.
Anyway after I had the pins removed, the pain virtually disappeared within the next few days, bruising went as well and its been fine ever since.

Good luck with your recovery loanrangie

I did that when I was 18, had a full cast to the hip then at the 6 week checkup tib wasn't aligned so had a K nail inserted thru my knee which got removed a year later.
This time the plate was almost poking through the skin so needed to be removed.

All the best on your recovery and rehabilitation Nick, I am amazed at the skill of surgeons.....what is in your favour is the Victorian winter; you will have to stay inside for a bit.

All the best with your recovery

I suffered compound fractures and degloving of my left arm and hand a few years ago which involved having a plate screwed into my arm and several stainless steel rods inserted into my fingers to align them after they had been stitched together and the bones set.
After a few months the stainless rods were removed with a pair of plyers' which was excruciating But the relief was almost instantainious (like after having a bad tooth pulled)
A few months later the metal plate with associated screws were removed from my arm under general anaesthetic and again my pain and discomfort levels dropped dramatically.

Hopefully your recovery will yield the same results

    how come he was asleep?

I had a recent bout in hospital.

I got the idea that you weren't allowed to sleep there.

I'm glad that all the nurses that looked after me were young , happy and lovely.

good luck with your convalescing loanrangie....

It amazes me what doctors etc can do now.
When I was a kid & got smashed up a coupe of times I spent a very long time in traction with heavy weights pulling me down the bed.
    Do they still do that?
