I have posted else where as to fact I purchased front light guards, rear access ladder and a rear lamp guard for my daughter's 90. It was her birthday. She always choses stuff for her 90 for presents. Anyway the purchase of the accessories turned out to be a rather traumatic experience. I have just recovered sufficiently to be able to set down the details.
One of the front light guards was missing the bottom rail. This is used to hinge the front light guard to the Land Rover so it can fold forwards to change a bulb. I e-mailed the company but as it was late Friday evening the Mrs told me to telephone them as they might not check the e-mails until Monday. The Mrs said she would dial the number. I am not too good with technology. Anyway she dialled the number and gave me the phone. I waited with anticipation. The call was answered by a woman of the female variety. I was a bit put out at this as I don't get to talk to many women of the female variety on the telephone.
She gave me her name. This was seriously unknown territory to me. A female woman giving me her name...over the phone. I was still gathering my wits when she said "What can I do for you?" I was really in a quandry now. Had my Mrs dialled one of those funny long numbers you dial at night when you are lonely? Really proud of myself here but I managed to get a grip on myself and explain the reason for the call.
"Could you send me a photograph?" The female woman said. More confusion ensued in my brain. Did she want a photograph of me or of the offending light guard. "I'll phone on Monday" she said. Well that really did it. How was I expected to sleep over the weekend when a female woman was to phone me on Monday?
Now to tackle the photograph. Did the female woman mean a photograph of me or of the light guard. I could not remember. Yep I was traumatised. Should I wash my hair (what's left of it) or go the whole distance and have a shower? Christmas is not that far off and maybe the one shower would do.
When I took a few deep breaths I decided it was a photograph of the light guard that was needed. In a way I was disappointed and yet relieved. No shower needed after all.
So the light guard was photographed by the Mrs (I am not too good with technology) and then e-mailed to the female lady, by the Mrs (as I am not good with technology).
As you can imagine I had an exciting weekend. I was all excited. Well I was going to get a telephone call from a female woman on Monday and she was going to talk to me. You can guess that I did not get much sleep on Sunday night in anticipation of the forth coming telephone call and hear a female woman's voice on the other end.
Monday came. The phone call came. Now my mind is a bit of a blur here so details may be sketchy. I was so excited by the whole conversation with a female woman . As far as I can remember the photograph did the trick and a replacement light guard was on it's way and no, I did not have to send the faulty one back. She said goodbye and hung up. I was on cloud 9. My life would never be the same again. I had had two successful telephone conversations with a female woman. Yep life is good.
Many thanks to MASAI 4x4 for the excellent service.
