Bridgestone truck tyres used to do that, they never failed, allowing full use of the tread, but no retreaders would give the tyre a second life. A retreadable case was worth $100, last century.
Toyo offered an excellent steer tyre. They tweaked it, causing premature wear of the shoulders. Toyo would recognise claims, compensating fleets, but refused recognition to owner drivers.
I used Toyo exclusively on all my vehicles up to that time, I have never bought a Toyo tyre since. That's over thirty years of tyre sales they have lost.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
