I'd appreciate them not wasting my time, if I'm selling something for $1000 and they've got $500, then I'd much rather them be upfront from the start and say what about $500. I'd be annoyed if they came out, inspected, wasted an hour or hours of my day and then said $500. That'd really **** me off when I could have just replied with a no (or yes, or wait) which is 5mins of my day.
I sold my boat online, a few years ago. Had a bloke contact me to say that he was interested, but only had $10,000. I suggested he then buy a $10,000 boat. Got a bit stroppy, he did!

I absolutely hate selling my old cars (actually they're never old but you know what I mean) as the nutters that try it on about price and their driving is horrendous. That remark covers a few Landie owners as well .:) I was threatened by someone when the bloke that bought the article paid up so quick he caught me by suprise.
Then there was the dickhead on here who wanted to "evaluate" the barely used 3rd row of seats from a Puma I didn't want and just flogged them off at a token price. He wanted me to pack them up and send them to NSW in order for him to do his evaluation. Yeah mate, they're on their way. :)
I've got some bits like driving lights (D4) and a 110s Aircon compressor (new seals) going in the bin soon as I can't bear the thought of dealing with yet more smart arses.
When this Disco goes I'm just trading it in as I can't stand any more of the antics people get up to.
No wonder I've gone bald mutter mutter.

Yes things have changed- most people seem to use Facebook marketplace but I still only sell on eBay. Even though fees are now way over the top, if you want it, pay the price in advance or bugger off! And I don’t get bothered by idiots.
Means missing out selling low value / bargain items but these are now donated to charity.
When flogging the Puma one bloke turned up with his 2 kids, his wife just dropped him off and went, and he then wanted me to sort out where kids seats would be tied down etc. I refused and told him I wasn't providing day trips for him and his kids and he reckoned I should as he'd never driven a Landie...... WTF?
Then another tosser wanted to go beach driving, then there was the preacher whose driving was horrendous and frightening (relying on divine intervention?) and other assorted nut jobs. Then the little round very fat lady who if she held the wheel couldn't turn it and her feet couldn't reach the pedals......
No, when the new car is here the D4 will be traded-in as I don't think my nerves can stand any more frights. :)
Plus they object to their licence being checked and a pic taken although they'd have that done at any car yard these days. No pic no ride and that's it matey.

Used to do the photo as a at buyer. Private sales are always a concern due to the number with hidden issues that can result in you losing the car and your hard earned cash that you paid out to someone you have never met before. Required the seller to stand in front of the car with the registration number and their house in the picture. If they were not keen deal over and cash stayed in pocket
From the other side, if something I am interested in is some distance away, it is good to get some sort of figure they would accept prior to driving for hours to inspect and then not come to some mutual value.
