Both of your points combined with there being no real consequence of flying a drone over a NP (unlike an airport) is probably why there is a rule, but nobody cares and nobody will enforce it. Those youtubers with NP drone footage (old school term there!) wont even get on to the NP or Police job lists.

Flying in wind and a long way off shore trying to recover to a smallish moving boat, salt water and salty air have yet to be overcome

Sure it might work and sure my Ships Diver recovery skills might help yet not risking my cash on one yet
A mate, who has his own Fishing Show, has an underwater drone that he operates from his boat. I'll try to find the link to his first attempt with it.

They can, and they do... And its done through CASA as well.

I was flying 2 drones near a creek just north of here - accessed via an unmarked track. Filming to get the lay of the land for a future trip with Kayaks etc
Turned out to be a National Park and we were quickly greeted by the Ranger after a call was made by unknown parties camped some distance away.

It took some serious negotiation and apologies to avoid (a) confiscation and (b) fines.

You can fly with permit in these areas, so it can be done.

And yes, CASA and National Sparks and Wildfires do occasioanlly persue those who post video on line.

I have RePL nowadays, so I'm extremely compliant to the regulations

Ouch, that was bad luck. People really react to drones as an invasion.

Partly the reason I posted was that a (very) few posts were later deleted, never to be seen again, one FPV video over Billy goat was awesome, so I wondered if some knuckles were rapped..
